my first hackathon win

At the summer 12 hour KnightHacks hackathon, BloomKnights, me, my roommate Reileigh, and 2 other we just met built OttoTrade. Otto helps you navigate your portfolio by helping you control emotions during volatile movements and lack of understanding of price action. We created an app that tracks global news and all possible events that affect price action of assets to create a bubble map to explain significant changes in price.

We built this project using React for the frontend and Supabase for the backend. Authentication and the database was all handled by Supabase. Our mascot was inspired by Pearl, the octopus in Finding Nemo. I'm proud of how much we accomplished in a 12 hour span from a fully functional site to getting it up and running to allow for real users.

I presented the idea to otherse in my group because I held certain stocks and crypto, and a lot of times random volatility or movements would happen that was unexplained. To someone unexperienced, it might be scary, emotional, and their natural instincts are too panic and either buy or sell with no real sense of judgement. To combat this emotional aspect of trading and help approach the systematic direction of trading, we built Otto!
